It is a common mistake people make in life

by on Nov.01, 2009, under Posts>Surviving Tips

It is not good to blame the victim of a crime because the perpetrator of a crime should be the one to take responsibility for the crime. But it always help potential victims to avoid becoming victims of similar crimes if we can find out what they should do or not do to avoid becoming victims of similar crimes.

Read “Richmond gang rape seen as nearly inevitable” and you will see that the victim in this case made the mistake of trying to be accepted by the people that brutalized her. I guess she could have hoped that by being accepted by them, she would get protection from them.

I have made similar mistakes. I did business with people who I thought were good in business and so could help me in my business. I was abused by them all the time. I did not know that people who are strong either protect me so that I can serve them or they can take advantage of me. They never use their strength to serve others. They use their strength to serve themselves only.

I know a woman who makes a good living for over twenty years by promising young people to bring them jobs. Young people think that she is old and nice and has the experience and the connections to help them get jobs. So they pay her to help find jobs for them.

In fact, politicians have always count on this common mistake that people make to stay in power. People always count on politicians’ strength to have their interests taken care of. But most of the time politicians only use their strength to serve their own interests, not the interests of the people.

Many professional services such as legal services, lobbying services, consulting services, etc., as well as many organized religions, also count on this weakness in people’s psyche to prosper. People simply think that they can get help from professional services or organized religions and so would do whatever they are asked to do, from giving their money to giving their lives. Predators know this and prey on people who need help.

How to deal with the common cold without using drugs

by on Oct.28, 2009, under Posts>Surviving Tips

I never take drugs for the common cold. You don’t have to take drugs for it. And you can proactively try to stop it. This article “Home Remedies for COMMON COLD —RUNNING NOSE” tells you how to get rid of the common cold without taking drugs. I usually drink ginger tea. But I am learning new tricks: eat as much raw garlic with my food as possible, eat raw onions, eat raw ginger, and drink ginger soup.

If the cold gets bad enough that I have a headache or stuffed nose, I apply Tiger Balm (which I do not consider a drug) to my temples, forehead, nose, neck (both front and back), and back and then cover myself very warmly and go to sleep. I would sweat all over during sleep, which is exactly what I want. When I wake up, I wipe myself with a cotton tower to absorb the sweat. Usually, the cold would go away then. If not, I would repeat the whole process. This is somewhat similar to “gua sha (??)” in Chinese or “danh gio (?ánh gió)” in Vietnamese, which is having someone else rubbing smashed gingers on your back with a tower and covering you very warmly so you could sweat. Sweating brings the cold virus out of your body. That is why it is important to drink hot soup, hot tea, or hot water as much as you can when you have a cold.

One important thing you should always keep in mind when you catch a cold is to keep yourself as warm as possible. You may think that I don’t even need to mention that. But you will be surprised how often people don’t take that seriously. People often catch a cold when there is a change in the weather. That is because people do not change the way they dress fast enough to catch up with the weather. Even after they have caught a cold, they still don’t want to put on more clothes. They always think that they are stronger than they actually are. They don’t realize that their bodies get a lot weaker when they have caught a cold.

If you want your body to stay strong, eat well, get enough of rest and sleep, and do not get emotional or worried. If your body is weak and you do not have enough time to get yourself stronger before the cold gets you, you should take colostrum. Colostrum is not a drug. It is all natural. So there is no side effect or anything. Taking colostrum is as natural as drinking milk. I usually take colostrum as soon as I feel that I may be getting a cold. That will stop the cold right from start most of the time. I will not even have a running nose, not to mention stuffed nose or headache. The colostrum I take is from Synertek. Their colostrum is very effective.

To sum up, here are steps you can take to prevent a cold or to get rid of a cold:

  1. Eat well, get enough of rest and sleep, and do not get emotional or worried. Dress warm enough for the weather. Put on warmer clothes to keep up with the weather.
  2. Take colostrum as soon as you feel that you may be getting a cold.
  3. After you have caught a cold, eat as much raw garlic with your food as possible. Eat raw onions and raw gingers or ginger candies. Drink hot ginger soup or tea. Drink hot soup, hot tea, or hot water. Drink lemon juice, orange juice, or grape fruit juice, or eat oranges or grape fruits. Dress more warmly.
  4. If you have caught a cold bad enough that you have a stuffed nose, a sore throat, or a headache, apply Tiger Balm to your temples, forehead, nose, neck (both front and back), and back and then cover yourself very warmly and go to sleep. Wipe yourself with a cotton tower to absorb the sweat when you wake up. Do this repeatedly until you get better.

So far, as an adult I have not had to do anything else after the last step. In my childhood, my mother once had to ask an old lady to rub smashed gingers on my back to get rid of the cold for me. That was the most serious cold I ever had in my life. Before asking for help from the old lady, my mother even cried because she could not do anything about it. Even my grandfather, who was the most famous pediatrician in the city we lived in, was not able to treat me. He was only trained in Western medicine and Chinese medicine. He was not trained in folk medicine.

“There are about 75,000 chemicals regularly manufactured and imported by U.S. industries, and of the 3,000 high-volume chemicals (over 1 million pounds per year) used, about half have no basic toxicity information available. What this likely means is that no one knows whether commonly used chemicals all around you … in your food, water, and air … are safe.” – Read the complete article “Children’s Diseases Linked to Chemicals Are on the Rise” by Dr. Mercola.

7 Reasons to Eat More Saturated Fat

by on Sep.23, 2009, under Posts>Surviving Tips

“A misguided fallacy that persists to this day is the belief that saturated fat will increase your risk of heart disease and heart attacks. This is simply another myth that has been harming your health for the last 30 or 40 years.

The truth is, saturated fats from animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in your diet, and they provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormone-like substances.”

Read more about saturated fat and “Healthy Sources of Saturated Fats to Add to Your Diet” in “7 Reasons to Eat More Saturated Fat” by Dr. Mercola.
